Adjacent has only been around since 2012, do you have the right qualifications to handle my project?

While our studio is relatively new, we collectively have over 35 years of experience in design and development. We’ve all worked in larger agencies and have subsequently worked on large, well-known brands both on the consumer and business sides.

We understand how to work within established brand boundaries and strive to ensure the online experiences we create strengthen customer relationships and provide meaningful interactions.

I see a visual featuring smartphones in your “What we’ve done” section…do you only do mobile sites and web applications?

No, we don’t solely produce mobile sites or mobile web applications. We believe in a responsive approach to designing and developing for the web. We’ve made it our focus to understand the intricacies around creating websites that are optimized for the wide-range of devices and screen sizes (including desktops) used today and those that will continue to come to market. Mobile usage continues to accelerate and we feel it is essential to keep the most challenging of all user experiences (smartphones) at the center of our focus.

I’m looking to find out more about you and would like to see some examples of your work. Is it really necessary for me to have to make this request through your site?

We do have plans to build a portfolio section within our site. In the meantime, we ask some brief essentials in order to e-mail you a link which provides easy access to sites we’ve done, and in some cases, other examples of our work.

Your site has indicated in the past you were working on a new logo and branding project. Aren’t you a web design studio?

Websites are our collective focus here at Adjacent. However, both Maribeth and Dan are formally educated design professionals and have extensive experience designing across all mediums. Visual branding, print collateral and exhibit design are all areas where we can provide professional design services.

I have a very simple site and don’t understand why the costs for a new site are higher than what I anticipated and budgeted for?

Long gone are the days of designing a website for a desktop-only viewing experience. Because we produce websites that account for the wide-range of devices and screen sizes used today, the time and effort required to design, develop, optimize and test these various mobile experiences is simply more involved than dealing with a single viewing experience.

I’ve had problems with websites being difficult for me and my team to manage. How can you help?

We develop our sites using WordPress, an open source content management system, which is used by more than 18.9% of the top 10 million websites as of August 2013.

We pride ourselves on creating custom, easy-to-use admin interfaces. You won’t spend countless hours updating your website because we tailor each installation to the specific needs of each client.
